La Gruyère
La Gruyère bewitches with its landscapes of authentic softness. The region offers visits to various places of interest, activities and excursions during all seasons in a sumptuous natural setting and very accessible due to its ideal location in the centre of French-speaking Switzerland.
The city of Bulle: In the centre of the region, Bulle is an unique Gruyère city. At the foot of its castle is the Gruyère Museum located, which presents the history and heritage of this district rich in traditions in an interactive and modern way.
The medieval city of Gruyères: At the foot of the Pre-Alps, Gruyères offers a true journey through history with its castle and its charming little city preserved from time. A visit to the "La Maison du Gruyère" demonstration cheese dairy is a must to learn everything about Gruyère PDO and watch the master cheesemakers at work. With the museum and bar of "Alien" designer H.R. Giger and the Tibet Museum, you enter a cultural universe of another dimension. For the gourmands, the famous chocolate factory of the Maison Cailler has to be discovered in Broc !
The Moléson: Just above Gruyères, the Moléson resort overlooks the plain and offers the most impressive view of the Fribourg Pre-Alps. The Moléson is accessible to everyone by funicular and cable car. Its leisure park, which includes summer tobogganing, minigolf and devalkart, as well as its 17th century alpine cheese dairy, are ideal for a family day!
The village of Charmey: A little further up, in the heart of the Jogne Valley, the charming village of Charmey invites you to relax at the Bains de la Gruyère, offering a playful thermal universe and a breathtaking view of the mountainous landscapes of La Gruyère. At the intermediate station of the cable car, at Parc Charmey Aventures, eleven tree-climbing trails provide two hours of thrills. From the top of the cable car in Vounetz, in addition to the possibility of eating and contemplating, a "trotti-bike" descent allows you to reach the village while having fun.
The village of Jaun: Plus higher in the valley, the traditional mountain village of Jaun also offers many activities such as climbing and hiking around the imposing and beautiful Gastlosen mountain range.
The Lac de la Gruyère region: An integral part of the Gruyère postcard landscape, the Lac de la Gruyère is also worth a visit. The island of Ogoz, unique in its kind, can be visited by boat. The lake is ideal and safe for many water activities such as kayaking, stand-up paddle or simply swimming. You can also take a tour of it thanks to the famous "Sentier du Lac", which totals 45 km as close as possible to the water.
Above, the family resort of La Berra welcomes hikers and skiers offering a superb panoramic view of Lac de la Gruyère.
The Intyamon Valley: On the other side of the region, only 15 minutes by car, in the Intyamon Valley, everything seems to be dedicated to the alpine tradition in Estavannens, Villars-sous-Mont, Grandvillard and Lessoc. These typical villages, witnesses of the region's rich heritage, are easy accessible and part of a magnificent valley shaped by life in the mountain pastures.
